Nintendo is giving itself a lot of creative freedom by renewing a dozen Japanese Pokémon trademarks. Future titles in the series can have such unique names as Pokémon Black, Pokémon Brown, or the risqué Pokémon Scarlet. While some may criticize Nintendo’s somewhat predictable naming pattern, financial analysts will be quick to point out Pikachu’s Theorem:

iStat is coming soon for the iPhone. It’s going to feature iPhone statistics (and the ability to free memory, which is nice), and the ability to connect to a remote iStat server on a Mac either via Bonjour or direct IP. Looks pretty cool. Will be $1.99 on launch ($2.99 thereafter).

We’re going to start by retiring the old name for good. When your name can also be used as a verb that means driving a hook through your head, it’s time for a serious image makeover. And who could possibly want to put a hook through a sea kitten?
PETA is trying rebrand fish as “sea kittens” via kottke. Clearly Sockington does:

Most notably 1.3 features a new CSS selector engine that speeds up selector functions, and the ability to have ‘Live Events’. Basically this means if you bind a ‘click’ event on an element to a function, and then add more of those elements later, those elements will automatically inherit that binding – no need to rebind it every time. This makes things more efficient.
